Windows 10 kb 4048954 stuck downloading

For example, when I tried to rename Catroot2, I got "Access is denied. Once it was stopped, the rename worked. The last command in the sequence, "net start msiserver" failed, eventually saying something like "the process didn't respond.

But then the "net start" command worked. Go figure. So, Microsoft Update is working again. Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit 3 people found this reply helpful.

On one I did a Shut down and then did a search for updates in Settings. Up popped KB and also the Feature Update which was not there before. After many moons KB completed successfully, but the Feature Update failed with "Restart needed to complete The solution to this last was to use the direct download from the Microsoft website.

It seemed that the Feature Update would not take unless KB was installed. This one was a lot simpler no Feature Update present.

Powering up the PC caused it to continue successfully from where it left off. Don't you think this solution is getting a bit complicated, I am a 20 year user of Windows and I have dabbled a lot so know a bit more than the average user. By some quirk, KB does not show the number of attempted installs but Features Update has tried 3 times.

This is absolute bloody ridiculous, if FU needs KB to be installed why does even attempt an install, surely a check for prior mandatory updates should be made.

Maybe my system is not typical as I dual boot Win 8. In both instance Microsoft spent 4 hours trying to get windows back and failed. I also use NAS. Scrap Settings and return to the Control Panel!

My first install of Win 10 was the Home version which crashed due to a memory overload by the first round of UPDATES, so I went out and bought the Pro version to be able to control when Updates are downloaded and installed. The Creators Update hung forever and in the end I pulled the plug but, thankfully it restarted and finished the installation. There were corrupt System files reported immediately after installing Win 10 Pro and the Creators Update which SFC corrected on my PC but my sister's had the HDD running flat out Home edition due to missing files that sfc could not cure so I ran a repeat Win 10 Upgrade, keeping users files etc, and it worked OK from then on hers was also dual boot and multi partition.

I have wasted 4 hours of my time tonight and still have the problem, so I need to spend a few more hour to hopefully find is there is a cure. Windows Update is yet again downloading both the failed Updates so I hope that this time they get installed and finish in the right order and I don't have to waste yet more time because Microsoft cannot understand or control the mega mammoth OS.

Maybe drivers were a bit more of a problem but I never spent this amount of time over any problem with it! Oh yer, it was only 10GB at most and Win 10 is?? You may surmise correctly, I am more than a little pissed at Microsoft not providing an iron clad operating system after all the hours I and many others spent as Insiders testing the pre release versions.

I cannot spare the time now as I am too busy providing Faults in Feedback and trying to find my own solutions since Microsoft Answers keeps on telling me to use Feedback instead of getting an answer!

I have waited years for some problems to be sorted and I am still waiting. Maybe Microsoft should stop pushing major revisions as Upgrades, automatically use separate partitions for any of a User's data and think about shrinking the mammoth. The Update is just download for the 4th or is it the 5th time, I lost count. I finally got KB installed so hopefully this will fix it after 6 hours plus the new download time with a variable AQL of PC use: I wonder how many people throw their laptops against the wall, is that another revenue opportunity for Microsoft to help the failing sales of new laptops, I am a suspicious B ain't I.

Office is developing numerous problem after updates just like Office XP did to force Users to replace their Office edition; probably soon find my i7 CPU is unsupported because it is too old while Centrino dual core are still being used in Surface Tablets. If I were not a doddering old fart I would use my younger memory to learn GNU programming and develop my own applications, then I would only have myself to blame instead of a company that produced the OS that I paid a lot of money for.

This is ridiculous I have a domain of pcs I deployed this update to a test group and almost all of them are saying requires restart I have of course restarted. My home laptop with absolutely nothing special on it what so ever is also saying the same. I see that many of the suggestions include turning off the Windows Update Service before installing a downloaded update.
