Jan 24, Rachel Bridgeman rated it it was amazing. Things i like about this are the design of the book ringbound ,how sturdy it is and beautifully photographed. Not only does it clearly and concisely take beginner level sewers onwards through the basics you need for supplies,equipment and techniques,it also gives you, as the title suggest, boundless des 'Boundless Style' was created by Kristian Boos of the label 'Victory Patterns',and has online support to customise designs through Lookbook where you can create your designs in a virtual studio.

Not only does it clearly and concisely take beginner level sewers onwards through the basics you need for supplies,equipment and techniques,it also gives you, as the title suggest, boundless design options. There is a CD rom included to print out the exact patterns you need, eliminating the need for cutting out a pattern at just one size. There are 5 skirts of varying lengths, 5 bodices and 5 sleeve lengths given you a multitude of options to make tops and dresses. Downsides are that the sizes only go up to a size 16UK and as small as size 2.

As usueful as this book woudl be in compiling an individual wardrobe unique to each reader, there are limits in how many dresses a person wants so for trousers,jeans etc then you would need another book. As I am at the top end of the sizing, I'm not sure how many of the actual outfits I will be able to make and wear. This book came as a subscription gift for LoveSewing magazine and although I like it very much,feel it is more aimed at fashionable younger women than the curvier 40 year old that I am all the models appear to be in their 20's,in heels and very fashion forward.

I doubt I would have bought it off the shelf. It's not very practical unless you have a job that requires lots of smart dressing,entertain often. I am more of 'Can you put it on quickly and will it hide my bumpy bits' kind of sewer so maybe it'll bring me out of my comfort zone of skater dresses easy to make and wear and get me looking at more shapes and options. There are some beginner tips in here what pins to use, what scissors to use , but nothing about sewing machines, so I would probably place this in the intermediate range--for sewists who have made several garments before and like the mix-and-match patterns included here.

I didn't know what to expect with the mix and match concept of Boundless Style, but I am totally blown away! I'm not good at that kind of thing and I don't enjoy it. Here, the work is done for me and I intend to work those combos!
