With Mac OS I then point all browsers to that folder. This way the desktop is clear of multiple downloads. As an IT teacher in a high school, I follow the same process with multiple Mac logins on each machine. This does not keep the kids from redirecting the download, but it works for most. I give the user more freedom than most at the high school level because I want the kids to understand the processes that we incorporate.

What about double-clicking the download entry in the Download Log list in Safari to initiate the download. This keeps out any involvement with the Downloads Folder at all….

But nonetheless the file is downloaded into the Downloads folder via Safari. Open the file, then go look in Downloads folder, it will be there unless you move it. Depending on how you imported items into Music, some items in your library might be stored in different locations for example, in another folder or on another storage device.

You can consolidate all the files in your library in the Music folder—for example, to make it easier to move your library to a new computer. When you add an item already on your computer to your library, Music places a copy of the file in your Music folder. The original file remains in its current location. You can change this setting so that files are added to your library without being added to the Music folder.
